Child Sponsorship
Forget-Me-Not is our child sponsorship scheme. Thanks to sponsors in the UK, Canada, the USA, Africa and Europe, International Mission Project (I.M.P.) is able to support over 300 impoverished children every month. The children range in age from under 1 to 16 and live in 20 locations worldwide, in seven countries.
We work with field co-ordinators, whose role is firstly to identify children who need help. They then obtain a photograph and personal information, which they submit to the head office in Leeds. Once a sponsor has been found, they provide an annual update and photograph for the sponsor. They also ensure the child receives the necessary help.
There are three programmes:
- Alive: for £7 a month this provides basic living needs such as food, soap and some of the child’s clothing.
- Well & Alive: for £12 a month this provides a fund for health care in addition to basic needs.
- Taught, Well & Alive: for £17 a month this provides education in addition to basic needs and health care.
We have been informed that a number of children have been saved from starvation, illness and death through these programmes.
Sponsors can donate using their credit card or by setting up a standing order (direct debit is not available). Once we have received the first donation, we post out a photo card with information on the child; the annual updates then follow.
Please note:
- All donations are subject to a 10% deduction to pay for high running costs.
- I.M.P. has a child protection policy, and we satisfy ourselves that the co-ordinators are safe to work with children.
- Our policy for sponsored children in Zimbabwe is to remove all the rules and ask the co-ordinators, the Valentine family, to ensure that the children are cared for to the utmost of their ability and, if any money is spare, to use the surplus for non-sponsored children.
