Karim (Sahib from Algeria, living in France since 1977) and Raficka (English, living in France since 2000) have been married for five years. They met in the North of France whilst working for Channel North Africa, where they were involved in the development of audio-visual programs in the languages and the dialects of North Africa. The couple moved to Marseilles two years ago and their 11-month-old son was born there.
They participate in the communication working party and were instigators in setting up the intercultural working party within 1MCMP, a collective of organisations set up by the Pastoral in Marseilles, which unites pastors and Christian organisations. 1MCMP is organising “A Season to Serve” – series of events around Luis Palau’s visit in 2011 (see the site www.1mcmp.com).
Their charitable Protestant association THEBNI, “God Builds” (www.thebni-beit.org) exists for the advancement of the Gospel, church planting and serving other Protestant organisations already working in these areas. Thebni is a member of the Pastoral (see above).
The Project Samuel web site is a powerful tool that will enable them to put in place the Samuel Network, linking organisations around the Mediterranean. They are sharing their vision with others so that each one can consider the role which he or she could have to play in the future of this strategic area. The main objective is to build bridges by forging bonds of friendship and establishing works (see their web site www.projetsamuel.com/bridges for more information).
Raficka is part of an interdenominational team working amongst inner city children.
They continue to pray for churches to be born amongst the unreached inner city communities.
