Introducing Peter and Peggy Skinner, Manna Publications (UK)

Peter and Peggy Skinner

Based near Derby, England, Peter and Peggy are working for Manna Publications, who provide easy English Bible commentaries “at the point of need in countries where literature is scarce, literacy is low and error abounds.”

Peter and Peggy work from home, sending and receiving emails from a computer in their back bedroom with a host of jobs beside. They learnt that it was possible to have a world publishing ministry while based in the UK by being on the staff at the SOON office in Willington, Derby.

They met the authors of Manna books, Fred and Lorna Morris from Australia (and now living in the USA), in the year 2000. Their books are edited and typeset in the UK by a voluntary production team led by Manna colleague David Page, who arranges the printing overseas at the point of need.

In Ethiopia (a country Peter visited in 2008) Mark 1-8 has just been translated into Oromo. When Peter visited southern Nigeria last year he appointed a new distributor. Recent publishing projects include Urdu and Saraiki books in Pakistan, Tiddim Chin and English books in Burma, and Armenian books in Armenia. Three titles have now been translated into Portuguese for printing in Mozambique. Manna are also active in French-speaking Africa. At the time of writing these statistics apply: they have published worldwide 253,095 books, using 10 titles, in 32 countries, 27 languages and 260 printings. For this they give God all the glory.
