Introducing Steve and Anne Street, Tanzania

Steve and Anne Street

Steve and Anne Street work in Tanzania, in Kilimanjaro region, mostly in the Hai and Moshi districts; they live in Moshi, on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. They work very closely with Matunda Christian Fellowship (MCF), a locally registered Tanzanian church, and continue to keep close relationships with Wilbard Mushema, the Chairman of MCF.

The people they work with are very poor, and are mostly in Sanya Station, about 33km south southwest of Moshi. The church attendance is around 120 on a Sunday, nearly half of these children. Steve teaches from the Bible and preaches, as well as helping with the poor and needy of whom there are many. Last year’s long rains failed and many are hungry. The short rains were quite good, and those who were able to plant will get something of a harvest; but most were not able to plant. A couple of grain stores were built and filled with maize (the staple diet). This is being given out slowly.

Medical help continues to be given with a clinic every Thursday; serious cases are taken to the hospital in Boma N’gombe or Moshi, or Kibosho hospital. Houses are built for widows and the very poor as funds allow. A teacher was brought in to improve farming methods. Others were brought in to teach how to use cookers that use much less fuel as well as teach on other matters to remove ignorance and improve the lives of many. Much help is given as aid for school fees, especially for the widows, orphans and the very poor.

Anne continues to support her husband and is especially busy as a homemaker, as they have many visitors and friends to stay throughout the year.

A new area has been opened up for the teaching of the Bible in Orkolili (40km from Moshi).
