Les and Vicki were based in Singapore, but their time there has been reduced to two or three visits a year since their residence permits expired last August. This still gives opportunity to minister in various churches and to hold teaching seminars with the Marketplace Bible Institute and Tung Ling Bible School. They no longer rent a flat, as they can stay in a service apartment for students whenever they are there.
The past seven months have been divided between four months of visiting hot climates in Singapore, India, Cameroon and Vietnam, and three months of cold in Finland, Sochi and Siberia. The many opportunities to minister in Siberia were through a dear brother and friend Oleg, who arranged a six-week busy itinerary, with Les teaching in various Bible schools in Irkutsk, Kansk and Bratsk. Most churches run rehabilitation centres for young people with drug and alcohol problems. It is wonderful to see many coming free with a desire to serve the Lord and to reach out to others. The temperatures dropped down to -45 degrees during the stay, but the warmth of fellowship certainly made up for it! The door is wide open for further visits to help teach and train Pastors and workers in many parts of Siberia.
They are now very much used to living out of suitcases and travelling together. The future seems to be a continuation of this nomadic life-style, although the Devonshire Road Fellowship in Liverpool has given them the use of one of the flats there as a resting-place between trips. Sometimes they have wondered if the ministry is having any lasting effect in the various places visited; but recently they have been so encouraged by testimonies of lives which have been deeply touched by the Lord during past visits.
